(Junior or Senior) Technician Tissue Morphology

The Focus Area Tissue Morphology of the Preclinical Services Program of ARI, is service oriented and therefore involved in a variety of preclinical studies in collaboration with internal and external partners. As many samples come from bone fracture fixation and healing studies special resin embedding techniques are often used. A variety of biomaterials are also processed using different techniques.

• Education as Laboratory Technician with a minimum of 3 years of work experience, or experienced Senior Technician

• Use established protocols and techniques to independently carry out routine histological procedures
• Process tissue specimens from different sources (in vitro, in vivo) by embedding, sectioning and staining
• Train students, researchers and apprentices on the use of histological equipment and histological procedures
• Apply safety regulations and help supervise students and researchers within the laboratory
• Perform maintenance and quality control of equipment (e.g. saws, grinding equipment, microtomes, cryostat, Faxitron, developer, fixation and embedding solutions)
• Maintain laboratory and project related documentation
• Use computerized systems for data entry and operating equipment
• Support and maintain quality control records for laboratory accreditations (ISO 9001, GLP).
